Featured Writer At Describli (Yay!)

Hi guys,

I’m the featured writer at Describli this week 😀

I was completely stoked when I read the email, while sipping on my tea early in the morning and literally jumped up and down when I saw that Laura (the founder and CEO of Describli) herself congratulated me for it.

I’m really happy and proud of my Jessie series I think that it is the one that really caught everyone’s eyes. Jessie is a Contemporary Fiction short-story series about a girl named Jessie. I’m still not sure where I’m going to go with this series, but I’m sure to include emotional themes of love, family, support, getting over fears, etc.

10 Things That Are Stopping You From Writing

Every writer, whether they are big or small, experienced or newbie, published or unpublished, old or young, face the same fears and feel jittered before putting their work in front of the public (books, articles or any other content.)
What are these fears? What are the reasons that demotivate writers from writing? And finally, how to get over them and come out as a winner and go ahead with writing?

If you’re looking for answers to  these questions then go ahead and read.

10 Things That Are stopping You From Writing:

#1 Self-doubt

Self-doubt is nothing but a state of mind, just like confidence. But its one that can either stop you from growing or completely destroy you.

Everyone, at some point or the other, experiences the bitter taste of self-doubt, but the people who get over it are the ones who do not let it stop them from doing what they really want to do. By doing this they defeat self-doubt hands down.

Self-doubt is a plague that destroys your confidence and affects you in more ways than one. But don’t worry, if you’re going through a phase of self-doubt, then you are anything but alone. All you need to do  get a grip on your thoughts, be positive and believe in yourself and your work.

A long time back when I was facing self-doubt, I wrote down a very famous quote by Sylvia Plath on a square white paper and taped it to the wall opposite my study table.58888-51854

“The worst enemy of creativity is self-doubt.”
– Sylvia Plath

#2 Trying to do everything at the same time

This reason has plagued me for years and years. I can’t even remember a time where I haven’t faced this particular problem while starting with a new project (an article, essay, poem and even a book.) Whether it’s be writing or any other field, I always start a project and try to do everything at the same time, without realising that it is actually getting me nowhere.

Writing Progress #2

Hello dear readers,

It’s been one hell of a month! I’ve been crazily busy – as you all know very well – from last 3 months and finally I’m close to getting done with everything.

I’ve completed the second draft and revised it as well and presently I’m doing the third and the final draft. Dagny, a dear friend of mine who has accepted to proofread and beta read my book, and I have worked out an arrangement, where I’ll send her my completed chapters and she’ll edit them one at a time. It’ll help me finalise all the chapters and be done with the book by 15-20th of this month.

I fell sick last month and wasn’t able to do any writing for almost a week and that really put me behind my planned schedule. So basically, I’m writing the third draft and revising it as I go along, making my hubby, Vishal, read the final thing before sending them to Dagny. I sent her my first chapter yesterday and I must say that I’m really nervous to see weather she likes it or not.

Writing Progress #1

Hey everyone!

After successfully writing my first draft in June (JuNoWriMo) with a little more than 50,000 words (you can read about it ), I joined Camp NaNoWriMo for this month (July) with a target of 60,000 words.

I’ve been writing non-stop from last one and a half month and I’m going to keep writing till I get this book done 😀

The plan is to revise the first draft and write the second draft along with it. My word count as of Day-13 is 31,415 words and I’m halfway through my second draft. I’m planning to finish 50K by 20th July (fingers-crossed.)

First brief glimpse of Deceived

Deceived 2

Blurb

A girl who’s trying to cope with the murders of her mother and 5 year old brother.
A journalist who is chasing the ghost of a long lost serial killer.
A teen who murders her parents.
And a revenge-driven psychopath who is about to destroy everyone’s life.

A psychological-thriller that weaves it’s way through the sadistic past of a traumatised child to the web of dark secrets of a beloved father.

Excerpt

I slowed down to a stop, bent on my knees and started to take in big gulps of air. I tried to listen for footsteps over the loud pounding in my head but I heard nothing.

A Leap Of Faith!

Hi everyone!

I’m so glad to finally get the time to tell you all guys about my book. From last 2 months I’ve been planning to get the outline straight for my debut book. I had a small idea and over the last two months I spent time watching a lot of slasher and horror movies in order to get an idea as to what really is a good thriller…

Guest Post: SUPPORT By R. M. Ridley

Hello dear readers! Please welcome my first Guest-Blogger, Mr. R. M. Ridley: Writer of Fantasy and Horror and the author of  Tomorrow Wendell.

A couple of months ago, through my blog The Reading Bud, I had the pleasure of reading his book and I was totally spellbound by it’s fascinating plot.

Visit his blog Creativity From Chaos to know more about him.

Presenting R. M. Ridley…

When Heena asked me to do a guest blog post I was honored, delighted, and completely at a loss. What did I know about writing? What made me an expert in any way? How could I claim to hold profound knowledge previously untold?

The answer is that I don’t.

What I do have is a smattering of experience backed up by a lot of support. And maybe that is the key. Maybe that is what I should share—support.

With the help of McKeena Gardener, my editor at Xchyler Publishing, I am putting together a collection of my short stories set in my White Dragon Black world, for an anthology titled ‘Blondes, Books,& Bourbon’ (April release).
