Alteration of Shang-tu, the name of an ancient city in what is now the Inner Mongolia region of China, as portrayed in Coleridge’s poem Kubla Khan (1816).

  1. I had no idea that Xanadu was an actual word. I remember there was a movie from wayyyyyy back called Xanadu, but I didn’t know that it was a real English word. Hmmmm, I guess we do learn something new every day eh.
